Shauntee Pierre Slade Arrested; – A man has been found guilty in the fatal shooting of Jamaal Castle Moore, who was killed on July 4, 2023, in Newport News.
According to a spokesperson for the Newport News Police Department, officers responded at around 9:15 p.m. that night to a report of a shooting on Hampton Avenue, between Madison and Marshall avenues in the city’s East End. When officers arrived, they found Moore, 40, outside with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police identified the suspect as Shauntee Pierre Slade, 41. He turned himself in the following day and was charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
According to online court records, a jury found Slade guilty on Tuesday. His sentencing is scheduled for Decembe 5.
