Shaquan D Petty Obituary, Death; – One individual has lost their life as a result of a collision in Coles County on Tuesday evening.
The incident occurred on County Road 1000N, just east of its intersection with County Road 1300E. According to the Coles County Sheriff’s Office, the crash involved a head-on collision that resulted in the death of one of the drivers. The deceased has been identified as Shaquan D. Petty, a 30-year-old resident of Greenville, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A juvenile passenger in Petty’s vehicle received on-site treatment before being transported to HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. Subsequently, the juvenile was transferred to St. Louis Children’s Hospital for further care.
The other vehicle was occupied by an elderly couple from Oakland, aged 74 and 68. The woman required extrication from the vehicle, and both individuals were taken from the scene by emergency medical services for treatment.
County Road 1000N was closed for nearly five hours, beginning at 6:15 p.m. and reopening at 11 p.m. The investigation into the crash is being conducted by the Coles County Coroner’s Office, the Coles County Sheriff’s Office, and the Illinois State Police.
