Sened Mussie Gebreamlak Woldai Obituary, Death; – The 15-year-old boy from Surrey, who was tragically fatally stabbed in downtown Vancouver last weekend, has been identified in an online fundraiser as Sened Mussie Gebreamlak Woldai.

The teenager is being remembered as a “kind, joyful, and compassionate boy whose bright smile touched many lives,” according to a message from his grieving parents.

The fundraising site is collecting donations to cover the expenses of transporting his remains for burial in Eritrea, where his extended family resides.

In a post on social media, the Eritrean Community Association in Vancouver expressed its condolences to Woldai’s family and friends.

“This news has profoundly affected our hearts, and it is exceedingly difficult to accept,” the post states. “We pray that God provides you with strength, peace, and comfort during this very painful period. As a community, we must unite to support the family in every possible way.”

Vancouver police have not yet officially identified the victim of the stabbing that occurred on July 19.

A passerby discovered the teenager on Howe Street near the Vancouver Law Courts at approximately 11:40 p.m. that evening. He was transported to the hospital but unfortunately passed away early Sunday morning.

A 17-year-old suspect, who is also a resident of Surrey, surrendered to the police on Monday night.

On Thursday, the Vancouver Police Department announced that there were no significant updates on the case, but confirmed that the suspect had been released and that the investigation is ongoing.
