Scarleth Urgiles Obituary, Death; Teen killed, 6 others injured in East Hampton DUI car crash: cops

Scarleth Urgiles Obituary, Death;- A 19-year-old woman from Long Island lost her life, and six other teenagers sustained injuries in a drunken driving accident in the Hamptons on Sunday night, according to police reports.

Scarleth Urgiles, a student at East Hampton High School, was fatally injured in the incident that occurred in East Hampton, as reported by Newsday. Investigators indicated that Urgiles was a passenger in the vehicle involved in the crash.

East Hampton High principal Sara Smith expressed in a letter to the community, “There are no words that can fully express the sorrow we feel for the family, friends, and all those impacted by this heartbreaking loss.”

Luis Gonzalo Barrionuevo-Fuertes, aged 18, was named by police as the driver and was arrested on Sunday night, as reported by the Hamptons news outlet 27east. Barrionuevo-Fuentes faces charges of aggravated DWI and child endangerment.

According to investigators, Barrionuevo-Fuentes was driving a 2009 Toyota Camry with seven passengers packed inside, as stated by the East Hampton Star. The vehicle was heading south on Old Stone Highway when Barrionuevo-Fuentes lost control near Deep 6 Drive and collided with a tree, police reported.

Authorities noted that all passengers were aged between 15 and 19. An 18-year-old woman, Jennifer Amon-Barrers, also from East Hampton, sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital.
