Savannah Bentham Death; – A 10-year-old girl succumbed to neck injuries after being attacked by her family’s XL bully dog, as revealed during an inquest.

Savannah Bentham suffered fatal injuries from the incident at her residence in a static caravan located in East Heslerton, near Malton, on November 1, as reported by Northallerton Coroner’s Court on Friday.

Alison Norton, the assistant coroner for North Yorkshire, stated that Savannah “sustained fatal injuries” due to the dog attack at her home, and she was subsequently identified by her grandmother.

During a brief hearing, Ms. Norton initiated the inquest into Savannah’s death and then adjourned it to a future date that has yet to be determined. North Yorkshire Police indicated that officers were summoned to the scene by Yorkshire Ambulance Service around 16:15 GMT on November 1.

Despite the efforts of medical professionals and a bystander who attempted to assist, Savannah was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a police spokesperson.

In a statement released by the police following the tragedy, Savannah’s family expressed their profound shock and devastation over the incident. “We cannot comprehend the loss of our wonderful girl whom we cherished dearly,” they stated.

North Yorkshire Police later announced that an investigation was underway to determine the reasons behind the dog’s attack on Savannah, noting that all evidence suggested the behavior was atypical for the family pet.

According to a police representative, the family had owned the XL bully for four years and possessed the required Certificate of Exemption under new legislation. The dog had also been neutered, as confirmed by authorities. Following the fatal incident, the XL bully was euthanized by a veterinarian, as reported by the police.
