Sarallah Jawed Arrested; – Two individuals have been charged with the murder of a doctor following a shooting incident that occurred after the victim left his medical practice in Woodland Hills. Authorities suspect this may be a case of murder for hire. One of the accused, Sarallah Jawed, aged 26, is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday in a downtown courtroom.
Jawed is expected to appear before a judge in the Los Angeles County Superior Court on Monday morning, just three days after he and 41-year-old Evan Hardman, who was apprehended in Texas, were charged in connection with the August 23 killing of 61-year-old Dr. Hamid Mirshojae. The doctor was pronounced dead in a parking lot located in the 5900 block of Topanga Canyon Boulevard, near Warner Center Park.
In addition, the victim’s ex-wife and another individual have been arrested on suspicion of murder. A third individual, Ashley Rose Sweeting, faces charges as an accessory after the fact.
Both Jawed and Hardman are confronting a special-circumstance allegation of murder for financial gain. Jawed, a resident of Canoga Park, was taken into custody on Wednesday by the Los Angeles Police Department’s fugitive unit and is currently being held without bail, as per jail records.
Hardman, who resides in Tomball, Texas, is also facing a special-circumstance allegation of murder by means of lying in wait. Furthermore, he is accused of personally and intentionally discharging a firearm and has a history of robbery convictions in Los Angeles County dating back to 2002, according to the complaint.
Both Hardman and Jawed have been charged with one count each of assault with a deadly weapon related to an alleged baseball bat attack on Mirshojae that took place on May 3.
Hardman was arrested on Tuesday in the Houston area by deputies from the Harris County Sheriff’s Department and is currently in custody there, awaiting extradition, as stated by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Sweeting, aged 40 and from Reseda, was arrested on Tuesday and pleaded not guilty on Thursday to one count of being an accessory after the fact, along with an allegation of having one or more prior serious or violent felony convictions.
