Ryant Jones Arrested; – A man is currently in custody as a suspect in the tragic stabbing deaths of two children and a woman outside of Amite.
St. Helena Sheriff Clay Chutz reported that the youngest victim was an infant aged one year, while the other child was ten years old. The deceased woman, aged 40, was the mother of the ten-year-old and the aunt of the infant.
“This is an unimaginable tragedy,” stated Sheriff Chutz. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims, the first responders who attended to this incident, and the entire community.”
Ryant Jones, 31, from Amite, was booked into the St. Helena Parish Jail in Greensburg on Thursday, January 9, facing three counts of first-degree murder, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office.
The incident occurred at a residence in the 1500 block of Sawmill Road, near the boundary between Tangipahoa and St. Helena parishes, shortly before 5 p.m. on Thursday. According to the sheriff, deputies were initially dispatched to the residence in response to a domestic disturbance call.
