Rose Lourdes Gerson Garcon Obituary, Death; – The Milford Police Department has identified the woman who was allegedly murdered by her roommate on Lakeview Avenue, following the notification of her next of kin. The victim, Rose Lourdes Gerson Garcon, aged 50, resided in the 400 block of Lakeview with 18-year-old Edouard Risch Oldens, who has been arrested in connection with her murder.
On September 22, officers were called to North Church Street to address a mental health situation, during which they engaged with Oldens. He disclosed to the officers that he had committed a homicide, claiming that “voices inside his head” had compelled him to act. Upon responding to the residence on Lakeview Avenue, authorities discovered Gerson Garcon deceased.
It is the policy of the Milford Police Department to withhold the victim’s name until the next of kin has been informed. Due to the necessity for the immediate next of kin to travel to the United States, the department opted for an in-person notification, which resulted in a delay in releasing the victim’s identity.
According to police reports, Risch Oldens and Gerson Garcon were not related but shared a living arrangement as roommates. The medical examiner has determined that Gerson Garcon’s death was a homicide resulting from a stabbing. It is customary not to disclose the cause of death until the medical examiner has made a ruling.
Risch Oldens faces charges of first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony. He has been presented in Justice of the Peace Court #3, where bail was established at $680,000, cash only. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Risch Oldens in the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas at a future date.
The Milford Police Department expresses gratitude to the community for its ongoing support during this tragic event. They also extend their appreciation to the Delaware Department of Justice, Delaware Victim Services, Delaware Division of Forensic Science, and the Dover Police Department for their collaboration in this investigation.
