Ronald Bennett Jr Obituary, Death; – Authorities suspect that a high school student was fatally shot early Saturday morning.
The Birmingham Police Department reported that a Shot Spotter alert was activated, prompting officers to respond to the 600 block of 8th Terrace West at approximately 12:20 a.m. on February 1.
This location is situated within the College Hills neighborhood, just a few blocks north of Legion Field. Upon arrival, law enforcement discovered a damaged vehicle in the front yard of a residence and found an individual on the ground with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel declared the individual deceased at the scene.
The coroner’s office has identified the deceased as Ronald Bennett Jr., an 18-year-old resident of Birmingham, as per police reports. The Birmingham Police Department believes that the victim was specifically targeted in this incident. This marks the city’s tenth murder investigation of the year 2025.
