Romario Iraheta Obituary, Death; – Authorities identified a man who was shot by Los Angeles police after allegedly aiming a handgun at officers in Northridge on Wednesday.

The individual, 28-year-old Romario Iraheta, sustained injuries during the shooting that occurred around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday in the 9300 block of Corbin Avenue, as reported by the Los Angeles Police Department.

According to LAPD Public Information Officer Tony Im, officers responded to a report of a man armed with a gun outside a business located in the 20000 block of Prairie Street.

“As an LAPD air unit arrived at the scene, they spotted the suspect on a skateboard attempting to escape and directed the responding officers to his location…,” police stated in a release. “Iraheta continued to flee, prompting a foot pursuit during which he pointed a firearm at the officers, leading to an officer-involved shooting.”

There has been no information regarding the number of shots fired at the suspect or whether more than one officer discharged their service weapons.

Despite being wounded, Iraheta continued to flee until he eventually stopped and was taken into custody, according to police. He was transported to a hospital in stable condition and subsequently booked in absentia on charges of assault with a deadly weapon against a police officer involving a firearm, as stated by law enforcement.

No officers or bystanders sustained injuries.

A black steel handgun equipped with a loaded high-capacity magazine was recovered from the scene, according to police reports.
