Robert Smith Jr Obituary, Death; – A man from Kansas City, who is accused of a shooting that resulted in the death of one individual and injuries to two others, is currently in custody.
On Friday afternoon, Independence police apprehended Robert Cordato in Blue Summit. At the time of his arrest, law enforcement discovered drugs in his possession. Cordato faces charges for possession of a controlled substance.
Authorities had been actively searching for Cordato after he was identified as a suspect in a shooting that occurred at a residence in Independence on Thursday night.
Robert Smith, Jr. was killed in the incident, while a woman and a child sustained injuries. According to Independence police, the woman is still hospitalized in critical condition. The child’s injuries are less severe, but the child is also in the process of recovery.
Investigators have reported that Cordato has a significant criminal record, which includes prior arrests for second-degree murder, aiding a prisoner’s escape, unlawful weapon use, burglary, domestic assault, and various other offenses.
