Robert Dluhos Obituary, Death; – The Baldwin County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the individual involved in the fatal plane crash that occurred on Saturday night.
Deputy Coroner Tanya Joyner has identified the pilot as 78-year-old Robert Dluhos from Jacksonville, Florida.
He was operating a Cessna 310 aircraft when it went down at approximately 6:30 p.m. Saturday, close to Georgia State Route 212 in the 900 block of Nelson Road. Joyner noted that Dluhos had recently acquired property in Baldwin County.
Flight records from FlightAware indicate that the flight originated from Hilton Head, South Carolina, where Joyner mentioned that Dluhos has family. The records reveal that Dluhos made a turn prior to descending rapidly to the ground.
Deputy Fire Chief Bradley Towe reported that the aircraft also struck a pole, which has since been repaired. Additionally, a dog that was on board the plane perished in the crash, according to Towe.
Towe stated that the National Transportation Safety Administration (NTSB) is concluding their on-site investigation on Monday. The NTSB is the federal agency responsible for investigating all aircraft accidents in the United States.
The NTSB has assumed control of the investigation regarding the crash. Towe mentioned that the crash scattered debris over an area measuring approximately 100 yards by 150 yards. “It’s just debris scattered everywhere,” Towe remarked. “The plane wasn’t intact at all.”
The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
