Richard Lowery Obituary, Death;- The Hinds County Sheriff’s Office reports that a 52-year-old man has died following a standoff that concluded with him taking his own life.
The coroner has identified the individual as Richard Lowery, a resident of Raymond. According to the sheriff, there was an existing warrant for Lowery’s admission to a mental health facility. Law enforcement pursued him for approximately 10 to 15 miles to a residence, where he subsequently drove his vehicle through a gate around 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
The sheriff stated that the residents of the home were outside when Lowery entered the house, barricading himself within. Efforts by the SWAT team and negotiators to persuade him to exit were unsuccessful. Chemical agents were deployed, but they did not yield the desired effect.
The sheriff’s office indicated that Lowery shot and killed himself inside the residence several hours later, around 8 p.m. Authorities have confirmed that the residents of the home have no connection to the suspect.
