Reed Gelinskey ARRESTED; – A teenager from Wisconsin, Reed Gelinskey, aged 15, has been accused of murdering his mother, claiming that the Menendez brothers served as his inspiration.
According to court documents, Gelinskey allegedly took the life of his mother, an elementary school teacher referred to as SG, after viewing a Netflix documentary about the 1989 murders committed by Erik and Lyle Menendez against their parents, Mary Louise “Kitty” and Jose Menendez.
On March 6, Gelinskey was charged with first-degree intentional homicide and now faces a potential life sentence. Law enforcement apprehended him at his residence in Franksville following the receipt of Snapchat messages he had sent to a friend, who subsequently notified the authorities, as reported by NBC News.
In these messages, Gelinskey purportedly shared an image of a woman lying on her back and another depicting blood on the floor. He allegedly wrote to his friend, “I stabbed my mother to death.”
The complaint obtained by NBC News indicates that officers encountered Gelinskey leaving his home shortly after 10:30 p.m. local time, holding a knife. Upon being approached, he dropped the weapon and stated, “She is dead. She is dead from what I did.”
Following his arrest, investigators discovered that Gelinskey’s clothing bore traces of blood. During an interview at the Caledonia Police Department, he described returning home from school feeling “depressed” and experiencing an “urge to kill his parents.” He also mentioned feeling “high” due to anxiety medication he had been taking.
Initially, Gelinskey had intended to kill his father but abandoned that plan when he could not locate a sufficiently large hammer. Instead, he had dinner and later watched the Menendez Brothers documentary with his mother, who was using her computer on the couch beside him, as detailed in the complaint. He revealed to authorities that the decision to kill his mother was premeditated.
