Redaja Williams Obituary, Death;- The family has identified the woman who was fatally shot on Wednesday morning while accompanying her daughter to a bus stop in Louisville.
They report that Redaja Williams, aged 23, was the individual killed at the stop located near the intersection of 10th and West Chestnut streets. The incident occurred around 8 a.m. that morning, during which officials noted that numerous children were present.
Her family mentioned that her friends affectionately referred to her as “Juicy,” and she was a mother to two children: a 2-year-old and a 7-year-old.
As of Thursday, the perpetrator remains at large. The only information released by the police regarding a potential suspect describes a young Black male dressed in a red hoodie and black sweatpants.
A memorial is being established at the location where Williams lost her life. This shooting marks the second instance of gun violence affecting that area within a week.
According to police, a shootout occurred there the previous Thursday, coinciding with the first day of school for JCPS. Two 15-year-olds have been apprehended in connection with that incident, each facing 34 charges.
One of the teenagers was initially detained for the second shooting; however, police later concluded that he was not involved in that incident, but rather in the first shooting from the previous week.
Following that shooting, the LMPD increased patrols in the area, but these were discontinued on the same day as the second shooting.
On Thursday, police returned to the area as children were boarding their buses.
