Portia Newton Obituary, Death; – Police in Prince George’s County have confirmed the identity of the woman who tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run incident in Marlow Heights on Saturday evening.
On November 16, at approximately 8:50 p.m., law enforcement officials were dispatched to the 4400 block of Saint Barnabas Road in response to a report of a pedestrian accident. Upon arrival, they discovered a woman lying in the roadway who had sustained injuries from being struck. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
On the following Monday, authorities identified the victim as 37-year-old Portia Newton, a resident of Temple Hills. Preliminary investigations indicate that the driver was heading north on Saint Barnabas Road near Leisure Drive when the collision occurred, and the driver subsequently fled the scene.
Investigators believe the vehicle involved in the incident was a white work van, possibly a GMC Savanna or a Chevy Express.
