Philmoon Kuku Obituary, Death; – The Lincoln Police Department announced on Tuesday the identity of the Lincoln resident who was fatally shot during a crime spree that unfolded over more than an hour on Sunday.
Philmoon Kuku, 34, of Lincoln, succumbed to a gunshot wound to the chest near the intersection of 13th and E streets, according to LPD. Timothy Washington, 41, has been arrested on charges of first-degree murder and the use of a weapon in the commission of a felony.
At approximately 11:50 a.m. on Sunday, law enforcement responded to reports of gunfire in the vicinity of 13th and E streets. Upon arrival, officers discovered Kuku suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
LPD Captain Ben Miller indicated that the investigation has determined Kuku was engaged in a dispute with Washington, who was operating a black Chevy Impala, prior to the shooting. A witness reported hearing a gunshot and observed Kuku collapse while clutching his chest. The extent of Washington’s acquaintance with Kuku remains unclear.
Nearly 20 minutes later, around 12:10 p.m., the black Impala was spotted near 17th and A streets, subsequently evading University of Lincoln-Nebraska Police at 17th and O streets. At 12:35 p.m., Washington was involved in a hit-and-run incident with a white Toyota Highlander that contained a child, near 27th and Y streets. He was seen departing the scene of that collision.
Shortly thereafter, officers received a report of a stabbing in the 1100 block of North 29th Street. Police found a 40-year-old Lincoln man outside an apartment with stab wounds to his chest and neck. He was transported to a hospital for treatment of injuries that are not life-threatening.
The 40-year-old victim informed authorities that Washington had entered his apartment and accused him of being indebted to him. Miller stated that the victim believed Washington had confused him with another individual, as he does not know Washington.
