Phat Tan Bui Obituary, Death; – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has initiated an inquiry into the death of a missing man from Norcross, whose remains were discovered inside a van parked at Bell Mountain in Towns County.

As reported by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, 38-year-old Phat Tan Bui was found on the evening of July 18 at approximately 9:15 p.m. by deputies from the Towns County Sheriff’s Office. The van, registered to Bui, was situated in a parking area at the well-known scenic overlook. Deputies later verified that Bui had been reported missing by his family in Gwinnett County just one day prior, on July 18.

After discovering the van and finding Bui deceased within, the sheriff’s office sought assistance from GBI agents to support the investigation. Initial findings suggest that foul play is not suspected in Bui’s death. Bui’s remains were sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy to ascertain the official cause of death.

An online obituary indicates that a funeral service was conducted for Bui, who was a member of the Atlanta skating community and was recognized for his enthusiasm for fitness, music, and ideography, on August 2. The obituary does not specify a cause of death. Bui was the third individual to be discovered on the mountain this year.

Qaadir Malik Lewis and Naazir Rahim Lewis, 19-year-old twin brothers from Gwinnett County, were found in March. Following months of investigation, the GBI concluded that their deaths were a double suicide. However, the family has maintained since the twins were found that they would never take their own lives.

Anyone with information pertinent to the case is encouraged to reach out to the Towns County Sheriff’s Office at 706-896-4444 or the GBI’s Cleveland Regional Office at 706-348-4866.
