Patricia Torres-Jimenez Obituary, Death; – An investigation is currently underway regarding a tragic collision in Bertram that resulted in the deaths of a mother and her two-year-old daughter. According to Bertram police, multiple agencies responded to a multi-vehicle accident on State Highway 29 on Tuesday night.
The deceased woman, identified as 31-year-old Patricia Torres-Jimenez, was discovered trapped in her vehicle at the scene. Her daughter also succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash after being ejected from the vehicle.
Authorities reported that Torres-Jimenez and her daughter were halted in their Toyota, preparing to turn into a laundromat on SH 29, when they were struck from behind by a woman driving a Dodge Charger at highway speeds.
The impact caused the Toyota to veer into oncoming traffic, colliding with a semi-truck before being redirected back into the traffic flow, where it struck a BMW traveling westbound on SH 29. The vehicle ultimately came to a stop on the westbound shoulder of the highway.
The driver of the Dodge was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, and no other individuals were reported injured in the incident. Police indicated that no criminal charges have been filed as the investigation into the crash continues.
