A student from Mead High School, identified as 16-year-old Parker McInerney, tragically passed away after colliding with a tree on Thursday north of Spokane, as reported by the Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office. The medical examiner indicated that McInerney succumbed to multiple blunt force injuries, with the determination of the manner of death still pending.
On Friday, a memorial was established in McInerney’s parking space at the high school, adorned with vibrant flowers, photographs of him and his family, and touching messages, all sheltered beneath an American flag canopy. Among the displayed photos was one featuring McInerney alongside two of his Mead football teammates, all dressed in their football uniforms. Students were observed visiting the memorial on Friday afternoon.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, it is believed that McInerney was driving west on Rutter Parkway, near Dorset Road, when he veered off the road and collided with a large tree in a wooded area. The sheriff’s office confirmed that McInerney was the only occupant of the vehicle and that he died at the scene. At the base of the damaged tree, a white teddy bear adorned with a red scarf, along with flowers, was placed on Friday.
