Omar Contreras Obituary, Death; –Authorities in Sarpy County are conducting an investigation into a fatal accident that occurred on Interstate 80 early Sunday morning, resulting in one death.
As reported by the Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at the scene of the accident near mile marker 429, just east of Linoma Beach, at approximately 6:45 a.m. The investigation revealed that a Chevrolet Impala was traveling westbound on I-80 when it lost its right front tire, rendering the vehicle inoperable.
Following the tire failure, the Impala was rear-ended by a tractor-trailer. The driver of the Impala, 29-year-old Omar Contreras from Columbus, Nebraska, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was unharmed.
The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office’s Crash Response Unit is currently looking into the details of the incident.
