Nelson Beckett Obituary, Death; – Charges have been brought against a suspect apprehended in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at 10680 Westbrae Parkway on Saturday.
The individual, identified as 21-year-old Kyliel Denzel Arceneaux, faces charges of capital murder, two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and tampering with evidence in the 487th State District Court. The victim has been named as 90-year-old Nelson Beckett.
According to Sergeant B. Roberts and Detective J. Wallschlaeger of the Houston Police Department (HPD) Homicide Division, HPD patrol officers responded to a report of an assault in progress involving a weapon at an independent living community located at the aforementioned address. Upon arrival, they discovered Beckett lying in the parking lot with gunshot wounds. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital by Houston Fire Department paramedics, where he was pronounced dead.
Initial investigations revealed that Beckett was at his vehicle when he was confronted by an unidentified male suspect who assaulted him. The suspect shot Beckett, stole his belongings, and fled the scene in Beckett’s vehicle, striking him in the process. The vehicle was later located at an apartment complex situated in the 12500 block of Dunlap Street.
Further inquiries conducted by HPD homicide investigators, the Crime Suppression Team of the South Gessner Patrol Division, the HPD Gang Division, and the Criminal Intelligence Division of the Texas Department of Public Safety led to the identification of Arceneaux as the suspect. He was arrested on Tuesday, subsequently charged, and booked into the Harris County Jail, as stated in the press release.
