Nathaniel Cooper Obituary, Death; – A 22-year-old man lost his life after his vehicle collided head-on with a privately-owned ambulance.
As reported by the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident took place at approximately 2:35 a.m. on July 27. A 2004 Toyota sedan was heading south on U.S. Highway 17 Alternate when it collided with a northbound 2016 Ford ambulance near Sullivan’s Landing Road, according to the Post and Courier.
The driver of the Toyota, identified by the Dorchester County Coroner’s Office as Nathaniel Cooper from Adams Run, was declared dead at the scene. He was the only occupant of the vehicle. An autopsy is set to take place on July 30.
At the time of the accident, two individuals were present in the ambulance. Fortunately, neither of them suffered any injuries, as stated by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The ambulance is owned by MedTrust, a private mobile healthcare provider located in South Carolina. A representative from Dorchester County has confirmed the company’s involvement.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
