Nancy Lee Veasy Obituary, Death; – A grandmother has passed away following a car accident while she was on her way home after visiting her infant grandson, as reported by her family.
According to the police, the tragic incident took place at the intersection of Fulton Industrial Boulevard and Robinson Drive at approximately 4:15 p.m. local time on Friday, July 25, as stated by FOX affiliate WAGA-TV and NBC affiliate WXIA-TV.
The South Fulton Police Department confirmed that two individuals lost their lives at the scene of the accident.
Family members have identified one of the victims as 76-year-old Nancy Lee Veasy, according to ABC affiliate WSB-TV. Ameera Joe, Nancy’s daughter, informed the news outlet that her mother was returning home after visiting her 1-month-old grandson when the collision occurred.
“She never put the baby down. The whole time,” her son Japhet remarked.
“She wanted to hold them babies. Anybody’s baby,” added Cloys Veasy, Nancy’s husband of over 50 years. Nancy was driving along Fulton Industrial Boulevard when the fatal incident took place, as reported by WSB-TV.
A witness recounted to the news station that a truck driver was behaving erratically, leading the vehicle to veer into the median and into oncoming traffic before colliding with two cars, one of which was driven by Nancy.
Japhet was following his mother home at the time of the accident. He stated that he exited his vehicle after the crash, only to discover his mother had died.
“That’s the only thing I can imagine right now,” Nancy’s son reflected. “I can just still see her in the car.”
Police were observed placing the truck driver involved in the accident under arrest, but authorities have indicated that he is not currently facing charges as they await the return of evidence. An investigation into the incident is still in progress.
A funeral service for Nancy is reportedly scheduled to take place at North Point Community Church in Alpharetta on August 11.
