Monica Rodriguez Obituary, Death;- A woman has lost her life following a shooting incident at a Hampton hotel early on Tuesday morning, prompting police to seek assistance from the public in identifying the suspect.
As reported by the Hampton Police Division, officers responded to a gunfire report at the Quality Inn located in the 2100 block of West Mercury Boulevard around 12:09 a.m. Upon their arrival, they discovered an adult man and woman both suffering from critical gunshot wounds.
Both victims were transported to a hospital by Hampton Fire and Rescue. By 2:20 a.m., police confirmed that the female victim had succumbed to her injuries. Corporal Shaun Stalnaker provided an update on Thursday, revealing that the deceased victim has been identified as Monica Rodriguez, a 24-year-old woman from Newport News.
Authorities have not yet released any information regarding the condition of the male victim. Investigators indicated that the shooting occurred as the victims were making their way to their hotel room. An unidentified suspect approached them, and following a brief verbal exchange, the suspect shot both individuals before fleeing the scene on foot.
