Miguel Leonides Garcia Obituary, Death; – A 42-year-old man suspected of a hit-and-run incident was apprehended on Wednesday after a seven-month investigation into a crash that resulted in the death of a pedestrian last year in Escondido, according to authorities.
The incident took place on the morning of September 17, when the suspect, identified as Lair Marin Salas, a resident of Escondido, fatally struck 58-year-old Miguel Leonides Garcia with a truck while he was en route to work at the intersection of Mission Avenue and Broadway, as reported by the Escondido Police Department. Interim Chief of Police Ryan Banks stated, ‘Investigators dedicated hundreds of hours to this case.
Their expertise, meticulous attention to detail, and thorough analysis of the evidence will ensure that justice is served for the victim’s family.’ Salas has been booked into the Vista Detention Facility on charges of vehicular manslaughter and hit-and-run.
