Miguel Eduardo Gallegos Salas,Rigoberto Pulido Escobedo Obituary, Death; – The local police department in Juarez, Mexico, is grieving the loss of two officers who were fatally shot late Monday while off-duty near a convenience store.

The agency is also attempting to clarify the circumstances surrounding their deaths, which occurred alongside a man with a criminal background in El Paso, Texas. According to Juarez news reports citing unnamed Mexican investigators, the officers were serving as bodyguards for the civilian.

The Municipal Public Safety Secretariat (SSPM) has identified the fallen officers as Miguel Eduardo Gallegos Salas, aged 31, and Rigoberto Pulido Escobedo, aged 32. Both were part of a motorized unit responsible for patrolling the commercial district in Downtown Juarez. Pulido had served as a municipal officer for 11 years, while Gallegos had been in the role for only two.

“The two officers were off duty, and this agency is collaborating with investigative authorities to aid in the resolution of the investigation. SSPM expresses its sorrow over this incident,” stated the municipal police in a press release on Tuesday.

Authorities in Juarez have identified the third victim of the shooting as Ulises Nache Trujillo, a resident of Juarez. A person with that exact name has a criminal record in El Paso dating back to 2008, when the U.S. Border Patrol apprehended Nache for illegal entry into the United States approximately one mile east of the Paso del Norte Port of Entry. He pleaded guilty to the charge of illegal entry, and a federal judge in El Paso sentenced him to time served while awaiting the outcome of his trial.

Nache was arrested again in 2010 for illegal reentry and received a sentence of 150 days in federal custody. In November 2010, he faced alien smuggling charges after Border Patrol agents detected a group of three men and two women making an illegal entry into the U.S. at the Rio Grande, half a mile east of the Ysleta Port of Entry in El Paso.

Court records indicate that one of the males became aggressive, prompting border agents to subdue him with pepper spray. One of the females, a candy vendor from Juarez, reportedly identified Nache as the smuggler of the group.
Records show that the case was terminated.
