Michael,Debbie Carman Obituary, Death; – The individual suspected of being the driver in a wrong-way collision that resulted in the deaths of two individuals on Highway 285 last month has been apprehended. Michael Colson, aged 33, was arrested in relation to the crash that occurred on July 21 on Highway 285, close to Highway 8, to the west of C470.
Colson is facing several charges, including two counts of vehicular homicide, two counts of vehicular homicide due to reckless driving, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, and driving against the flow of traffic on a divided highway.
The victims, Michael and Debbie Carman, both lost their lives in the incident. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the crash involved five individuals across three different vehicles.
The Colorado State Patrol reported that the accident was initiated by the driver of an Acura RL who was traveling the wrong way in the northbound lanes. This driver, later identified as Colson, collided with two vehicles and was subsequently transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. Investigators noted that Colson first struck one vehicle, and the driver of that vehicle was taken to the hospital as a precaution, as stated by CSP. Following this, a third vehicle, which had a male driver and a female passenger—Michael and Debbie Carman—was also struck, resulting in their fatalities.
