Michael Wilmot Obituary, Death; – The Clark County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the ride-share driver who was fatally shot in a suspected road rage incident on the Las Vegas Strip earlier this week.
Michael Wilmot, aged 50, succumbed to a gunshot wound to the torso, as reported by the coroner’s office. His death has been classified as a homicide. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, Wilmot was operating an Uber vehicle with two passengers when he became involved in a road rage confrontation with another motorist on Monday.
The two vehicles came to a stop near the Palazzo at the intersection of Las Vegas Boulevard and Sands Avenue, as stated by Lt. Jason Johansson of LVMPD. Wilmot exited his vehicle and struck the driver’s side door of the other car. The driver, a woman in her twenties, then shot him.
“At that moment, he was armed and drew his firearm, but he collapsed shortly after being shot,” Johansson explained. The woman fled the scene but was later located and brought in for questioning. LVMPD indicated on Tuesday that she has not been arrested, and the case has been forwarded to the Clark County District Attorney’s office for further evaluation.
No additional information regarding the investigation has been released. Uber has reiterated its policy prohibiting firearms for drivers and is prepared to assist law enforcement in the ongoing investigation.
