Michael Graham-Hyde Arrested; – A man and his dog were tragically struck and killed by a driver while crossing a street in Aurora on Thursday night.
According to the Aurora Police Department, officers were dispatched at 7:30 p.m. to respond to a fatal accident involving a pedestrian and a vehicle near the intersection of E. Wesley Drive and E. Caspian Circle, located in the Sterling Hills neighborhood, west of the Plains Conservation Center.
Investigators reported that the driver of a white or silver SUV was traveling at a high speed westbound on East Wesley Drive when he lost control and collided with the man and his dog, who were on the sidewalk.
After the incident, the driver fled the scene. The dog was killed instantly, and the man was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Several hours later, around 2:45 a.m. on Friday, the suspect surrendered to the authorities. He has been identified as 73-year-old Michael Graham-Hyde and is facing charges of careless driving resulting in death and leaving the scene of an accident that caused injury.
Currently, investigators do not suspect that drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident. Aurora police have indicated that this marks the eighth fatal crash in the city for the year 2025.
