Michael Fosler Obituary, Death; – A father in Arkansas is reported to have shot and killed a 67-year-old man whom he discovered in a vehicle with his 14-year-old daughter. The Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office indicated that officers were dispatched following a report of a missing child on Tuesday.
While responding to the residence, deputies learned that the child’s father, Aaron Spencer, had found his daughter in a car alongside 67-year-old Michael Fosler. According to the sheriff’s office, a confrontation occurred between the two men, culminating in Fosler being shot and fatally wounded.
Deputies confirmed that Fosler succumbed to his injuries at the scene, and Spencer was subsequently taken into custody. As reported by USA Today, the family had previously obtained a no-contact order against Fosler, alleging that he had stalked and assaulted their daughter during the summer. Fosler had been arrested in July.
A public post on Facebook by Heather Spencer, who identified herself as Aaron Spencer’s wife, stated, “We had no idea this man was in contact with our child again.” “At the end of the day, our daughter is a victim, and we have a long road of recovery ahead for everyone,” the post continued.
It remains unclear whether Fosler had any familial ties to the family or how he was acquainted with the teenager. Aaron Spencer is currently facing a preliminary charge of first-degree murder. He was released on bond the day following the incident.
Commenters on Facebook have largely expressed support for Aaron Spencer, asserting that he acted as any father would in such a situation. “No charges should be filed! I’m so sorry you are going through this, but given the circumstances, any father would do the same,” one commenter stated.
“He saved his daughter!!! What a hero. He should not be in jail!” another remarked. In a statement, Lonoke County Sheriff John Staley characterized the incident as a “tragic situation,” noting that no formal charges had been filed as of Thursday.
