Michael Allyn Garcia Obituary, Death;- The individual sought in relation to a deadly hit-and-run auto-pedestrian incident that occurred on August 21 in Laredo voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement on Monday.
According to the Laredo police department, 70-year-old Maria De La Luz Garcia presented herself to authorities on Monday, resulting in her arrest and subsequent charges of second-degree felony for collision resulting in death. A bond of $25,000 was set by 49th District Court Judge Joe Lopez.
The incident took place on August 21 when officers were dispatched at approximately 9:30 p.m. to respond to an auto-pedestrian collision in downtown Laredo, specifically at the intersection of Houston Street and San Bernardo Avenue. Surveillance footage recorded a white Ford Bronco colliding with a man, who police believe was homeless, and the vehicle exhibited significant front-end damage.
The man was transported to a local hospital and subsequently airlifted to San Antonio in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries. He was identified as Michael Allyn Garcia, aged 43.
