Micah Middleton Obituary, Death; – An update has emerged regarding the incident involving a crash and shooting in northwest Houston, initially reported on November 15.
Authorities have identified the individual found deceased in a damaged vehicle marked by bullet impacts. Additionally, an arrest has been made in connection with the case. The proprietors of a business located on 34th Street, between Hempstead Road and Antoinette Drive, made the shocking discovery upon arriving for work that Friday morning.
According to the Houston Police, the victim, who had crashed through a fence, sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Micah Middleton, aged 28, was identified as the deceased on Tuesday. At that point, homicide detectives had not established a motive or identified a suspect.
Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of 25-year-old Jorge Valles, who has been charged with murder and tampering with evidence. His arrest occurred on Monday, November 25.
Detectives received a significant lead when they obtained surveillance footage showing a man in a white pickup truck approaching Middleton, followed by the sound of 11 gunshots. The shots were directed at the passenger side, resulting in Middleton being hit twice in the head, once in the shoulder, and once in the upper arm.
Additional surveillance footage revealed that both Middleton and the suspect’s vehicles were present at Escandalo Sports Bar prior to the shooting, with Middleton arriving less than 45 minutes before the incident. Valles had been at the bar for approximately four hours prior to the shooting.
Investigators reviewed around 2,500 images from Flock cameras, which ultimately assisted in tracing the vehicle to a Spring Branch apartment complex on Longpoint, where Valles resides with his parents and sister. During an interview, Valles claimed he was attacked by two individuals in a bathroom at Escandalo’s.
He admitted to waiting in his truck until he observed Middleton leaving. According to court documents, Valles confessed to following Middleton and shooting him while he was seated in his vehicle, stating that he lost the Glock used in the incident due to his intoxication.
Detectives also spoke with a friend of Middleton, who confirmed that he and another individual had been involved in a confrontation in the bathroom, but clarified that Middleton was not part of that altercation.
