Melvin Gibson Obituary, Death; – The sheriff of Florence County has provided an update regarding the investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred at a nightclub. Sheriff T.J. Joye announced that deputies have apprehended Brandon Cross in relation to the shooting incident at Qulture Bistro on Sunday.
According to jail records, Cross was charged with murder on Tuesday night. Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken reported that Melvin Gibson, a 39-year-old security guard from Florence, was killed in the shooting, which also left six other individuals injured by gunfire. Gibson’s family shared with Newschain that he was a devoted father of four, a diligent worker, and known for his kindness.
Sheriff Joye indicated that a group with a history of conflicts with Gibson attempted to enter the club, but Gibson, aware of their troublesome reputation, denied them entry. Subsequently, the group retrieved three firearms from the parking lot, leading to a shootout that resulted in Gibson’s death. Joye also mentioned that further arrests in connection with the case are anticipated.
