Maximilliano Chavez Arrested; – The individual suspected of driving under the influence (DUI) in an accident that resulted in the death of an unborn child and injuries to others is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday morning.
According to sources from the Clark County public defender’s office, 27-year-old Maximilliano Chavez confessed to operating the vehicle that disregarded a red light, leading to the collision. Furthermore, the source indicated that Chavez acknowledged to law enforcement that he had been consuming alcohol and using a vape pen in the hours preceding the incident.
Sources have reported that Chavez had a prior DUI conviction in Nye County in 2021.
A source familiar with the family informed FOX5 that the mother is awake and anticipated to recover from the accident that claimed her unborn child on Saturday afternoon. The source mentioned that all four individuals in one vehicle are members of the same family. The father and daughter are expected to be fine, but their son has sustained a broken leg and a concussion and remains sedated in the hospital.
“We are all grieving, and while this situation was beyond our control, we are relying on our faith. We are a family grounded in faith and are currently counting our blessings,” they expressed in a statement.
Chavez is facing several felony charges, including reckless driving and DUI.
