During the trial at Bristol Crown Court on Wednesday, October 9, the jury was presented with a sequence of CCTV footage and video clips related to the case involving five individuals charged with the double murders of Max, aged 16, and Mason, aged 15.

Antony Snook, 45, from Hartcliffe, faces two counts of murder, alongside Riley Tolliver, 18, and three unnamed teenagers aged 15, 16, and 17, due to legal restrictions.

In his opening statement, Ray Tully KC, representing the prosecution, informed the jury that Snook had transported the four teenagers from Hartcliffe to Knowle West with the intent of seeking “revenge” following an earlier incident where a group of young men had attacked a residence in Hartcliffe around 10 PM on Saturday, January 27, of this year.

Mr. Tully explained that the case is rooted in a longstanding rivalry between the BS4 and BS13 postcodes, specifically between Knowle and Hartcliffe. The court learned that approximately one hour after the Hartcliffe incident, Snook was driving the four teenagers through Knowle West when they encountered Max and Mason, who were leaving Mason’s residence on Ilminster Avenue.

However, the court was informed that the two boys were not involved in the earlier attack in any way; the group had mistakenly identified them as targets and proceeded to assault them. The evidence presented indicated that each of the four boys exited the vehicle armed with weapons, pursued, apprehended, and attacked Max and Mason. The fatal stabbings of both teenagers occurred within the brief span of 33 seconds, as noted by the jury.

They were shown a series of CCTV images from Ilminster Avenue, illustrating the timeline and movements of the four teenagers as they chased and caught Max and Mason. The footage revealed that the four teenagers exited the vehicle at 11:14 PM and 23 seconds, and all were back inside the car by 11:14 PM and 56 seconds. “It took half a minute for these defendants to exit this vehicle,” the court was informed.
