Maurice Miller,Tareya Burton General; Omaha police investigate shooting that injured 7 people Saturday morning

Maurice Miller,Tareya Burton General; – The Omaha Police Department Assault Unit is investigating a shooting that injured seven people early Saturday morning.

Police said officers responded to reports of multiple gunshots near 30th Street and Bedford Avenue at 4:20 a.m. Around the same time, a ShotSpotter alerted officers to multiple gunshots in the parking lot of Kelly’s Liquor. When police arrived at the liquor store, they saw a large crowd leaving the scene, according to officials.

At 4:23 a.m., investigators said two people with gunshot wounds walked into CHI Health Creighton University Medical Center. The victims are Maurice Miller, 43, and Tareya Burton, 30.

 

Authorities said officers also responded to a crash near 36th Avenue and Lothrop Street around 4:28 a.m. The driver, D’zhaun Tucker, 26, was shot while driving away from the scene at Kelly’s Liquor and lost control of the vehicle, Omaha police said.

Shortly after 4:33 a.m., investigators said four people with gunshot wounds walked into Immanuel Hospital. Police identified the victims as Havier White, 22, Maurice Brow, 31, Royce Jones Jr., 38, and Camron Jones, 21.

Officials said none of the victims had life-threatening injuries.

The assault unit is actively investigating.
