Maurice Brown Jr Obituary, Death; – A 4-month-old boy tragically lost his life when police reported that the car he was in, along with three other individuals, attempted to evade law enforcement and subsequently crashed early Tuesday morning in Wilmington.
According to investigators, the fatal incident commenced with a traffic stop near the Marsh Road exit of I-95 shortly after 1 a.m.
The vehicle’s driver, a 33-year-old man, was wanted for multiple offenses and fled the scene as officers approached the car.
The vehicle exited at Marsh Road and proceeded towards the intersection of Marsh and Edgemoor roads before crashing off the roadway.
Investigators indicate that there were four occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash, including an unrestrained 4-month-old boy and a 10-year-old girl.
The infant, later identified as Maurice Brown Jr., was transported to the hospital where police reported that he succumbed to his injuries.
The 33-year-old driver was admitted to the hospital in critical condition.
Authorities stated that the girl and a 32-year-old woman were also hospitalized but are in stable condition.
Officials have not disclosed the reasons for which the driver was wanted.
No charges have been filed as of yet.
