Matthew Taylor Obituary, Death;- Authorities have disclosed that the individual who perished while kayaking in Northland on Monday was a 29-year-old man, who leaves behind a partner and three young children.
Members of the Ruakākā Surf Lifesaving Club discovered the body of Matthew Taylor in the Ruakākā Estuary that afternoon, just a few hours after his overturned kayak was located.
Sergeant Simon Craig from Ruakākā Police stated that the family is finding it difficult to cope with their loss, as what was intended to be a morning exercise in favorable conditions turned into a tragedy.
A rāhui on the Ruakākā River was scheduled to be lifted on Thursday afternoon.
The police are conducting inquiries on behalf of the Coroner.
