Matthew Beddome Obituary, Death; – A 22-year-old motorcyclist tragically lost his life on Monday following a collision with a Toyota Camry on Northwest St. James Drive, as reported by police on Tuesday.
The victim has been identified as Matthew Beddome from Port St. Lucie, according to police officials. Authorities arrived at the intersection of Northwest St. James Drive and Northwest St. James Boulevard around 8:35 p.m. on Monday.
Initial investigations revealed that a 47-year-old woman was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on Northwest St. James Drive while Beddome was riding his Kawasaki motorcycle southbound. Both vehicles were approaching Northwest St. James Boulevard, where the traffic signal was green for both directions.
The Toyota made a left turn onto Northwest St. James Boulevard, entering the path of the motorcycle, police reported. The motorcycle collided with the right rear of the Toyota, resulting in Beddome being thrown from the bike, as he was not wearing a helmet. Beddome was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Toyota was unharmed.
Investigators are currently assessing the circumstances to determine liability. However, preliminary findings suggest that the Toyota may have failed to yield the right-of-way, as stated by Sgt. Dominick Mesiti, a police spokesperson, on Tuesday. Authorities indicated that there was no evidence to suggest that speed or impairment contributed to the accident.
