Mathew Ryan Martinez,Sindy Michelle Masny Obituary, Death; – Two individuals have lost their lives following what law enforcement officials are describing as a murder-suicide in Decatur. As reported by the Decatur Police Department, investigators have concluded that a man shot and killed a woman before taking his own life.
At approximately 8:48 p.m. on Monday, officers from Decatur Police and Decatur Fire and Rescue were dispatched to the 2900 block of Lynnwood Circle SW for a welfare check. Upon their arrival, Decatur Fire personnel entered the residence after observing a man lying facedown through a window.
Once inside, authorities reported that both the man and the woman were found unresponsive within the residence, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Morgan County Coroner Jeff Chunn arrived at the scene and declared both individuals deceased, according to police reports.
Subsequently, detectives from the Decatur Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division were summoned to the location to initiate an investigation. The deceased man was identified as Mathew Ryan Martinez, 38, from Decatur, while the woman was identified as Sindy Michelle Masny, 56, also from Decatur.
During the investigation, law enforcement officials stated that detectives determined Martinez succumbed to a self-inflicted gunshot wound after fatally shooting Masny.
Investigators have indicated that the incident was an isolated occurrence.
