Mary Kinsey Obituary, Death; – Emergency services, including an air ambulance, were dispatched to the scene of a collision involving a Nissan GTR and a pedestrian on Church Road in Felixstowe at approximately 2:30 PM on Tuesday.
The pedestrian was transported to Ipswich Hospital via land ambulance for medical attention but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries later. A representative from Suffolk police stated that, pending confirmation during formal inquest proceedings, the deceased has been identified as Mary Kinsey, a resident of Felixstowe.
Lewis Meadows, an 18-year-old from Cliff Road, Felixstowe, has been charged with several offenses, including causing death by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop after a collision, operating a vehicle without insurance, and failing to report the incident.
Meadows is scheduled to appear at Suffolk Magistrates’ Court in Ipswich on Thursday. Felixstowe town councillor Nick Barber, who represents the East Ward encompassing Church Road, characterized the incident as an “isolated occurrence.”
Mr. Barber remarked, “Having served as a councillor in Felixstowe for 15 years and being a lifelong resident, I can count the number of incidents like this on one hand. I feel deep sympathy for the family affected, and I believe this is an isolated case. Such events are rare in Felixstowe, and it is unfortunate that this has occurred; I hope it remains the only one I will recall in my lifetime.”
The woman was reportedly walking along the pavement towards High Road East when she was struck from behind by the GTR, which subsequently crashed through a picket fence and into the front garden of a nearby property.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to reach out to Suffolk police, referencing crime number 37/65944/24.
