According to Holmes County Sheriff Willie March, a group of individuals participated in a trail ride following the homecoming event for Holmes County Consolidated Schools. Sheriff March indicated that a dispute arose among several young men prior to the outbreak of gunfire. Authorities are currently searching for suspects involved in the shooting, as stated by the sheriff.
The deceased victims have been identified as Martel Gibson, 25, from Durant; Shundra Chestnut, 19, from Kosciusko; and John Jenkins, 19, also from Durant. Holmes County is situated approximately 70 miles north of Jackson, the capital of the state.
