Mark Maisel Obituary, Death; – A 70-year-old man who was struck and killed by a vehicle while walking his dog in Carmel Valley over the weekend has been identified.

Mark Maisel, a resident of San Diego, has been confirmed as the deceased by the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office. The incident took place on Sunday at approximately 6 p.m. in the 5000 block of Brookburn Drive, as reported by the medical examiner.

At the time, Maisel was accompanied by his wife and dog. His wife crossed Brookburn Drive ahead of him and waited for him to join her.

According to the medical examiner’s office, Maisel allowed two vehicles to pass before stepping into the street, at which point he was struck by an oncoming car. The force of the collision caused him to be thrown onto the roadway.

When emergency responders arrived, they found Maisel unresponsive and not breathing, as stated by the San Diego Police Department. He was transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The dog also sustained injuries in the incident and was taken to a veterinarian by bystanders, according to the SDPD. The current condition of the pet is unknown. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement. The medical examiner has classified the cause of death as an accident.
