Marisa Lashae Dowdle Obituary, Death; – A man has been apprehended in connection with the shooting of one woman and the fatality of another on Sunday evening in a subdivision located in Spartanburg County. The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office has charged 38-year-old Tyrone Douglas Brown, a resident of Spartanburg, with murder following a dispute that escalated into gunfire.

Prior to 6 p.m., deputies received a 911 call reporting the shooting incident on Foxborough Road. Upon their arrival, they discovered a woman deceased at the scene. The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as 29-year-old Marisa Lashae Dowdle, also from Spartanburg. Her death has been classified as a homicide.

Inside the residence, deputies found another woman who had sustained gunshot wounds. Fortunately, she is anticipated to recover from her injuries. The mother of both victims provided information to authorities, identifying Brown as the alleged perpetrator.

According to deputies, Brown had a child with the victims’ sister, who passed away the previous year. He was visiting the child when a dispute arose between him and both victims, leading to a physical altercation.

During this confrontation, Brown allegedly brandished a firearm and shot one victim inside the home. He then shot Dowdle as she pursued him outside. Authorities located Brown a short distance from the incident site. Reports indicate that Brown attempted to assert a self-defense claim; however, evidence and witness testimonies contradicted this assertion.

Brown has been booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center and faces additional charges of assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, as well as possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

He appeared before a judge on Monday, October 14, where his request for bond was denied. The investigation into the homicide is ongoing, led by the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
