Manual Correa Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified a 46-year-old man who was fatally shot in Southcrest on the eve of Thanksgiving.

The victim, Manual Correa, a Hispanic resident, was discovered lying in an alley in the 3700 block of National Avenue on November 27, 2024, with at least one gunshot wound. Despite the efforts of bystanders who provided first aid and the life-saving measures administered by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

San Diego Homicide Detectives have been assigned to the case and are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Preliminary evidence and witness accounts suggest that the victim engaged in a verbal dispute with a group of individuals in a nearby parking lot. Reports indicate that both the victim and a male from the group drew handguns and exchanged gunfire.

During this exchange, the victim sustained fatal injuries. It remains unclear whether the other male was also struck by gunfire, according to police reports. Following the incident, the group reportedly fled the scene, with some departing in a white Lexus. Detectives have since identified this vehicle and entered it into the automated license plate reader (ALPR) system.

On December 4, 2024, the ALPR system notified officers that the vehicle was located in the Ridgeview/Webster neighborhood. Patrol officers subsequently found the Lexus parked in the driveway of a residence on the 1700 block of 49th Street. Several individuals at the location were detained, and the vehicle was impounded for evidence. A search warrant was executed at the residence. According to the police department, one male was detained and later arrested on firearms and narcotics charges during the raid; however, he is not considered a suspect in the homicide.

The investigation into the nature of the initial altercation and the motive behind the shooting is ongoing. Authorities encourage anyone with information about this incident to contact the Homicide Unit at (619) 531-2293 or Crime Stoppers at (888) 580-8477. No additional information regarding the suspect is available at this time.
