Macy Stephens Obituary, Death; – A suspect has been taken into custody on charges of murder following the discovery of a woman shot dead inside a vehicle in south Las Vegas on Sunday.
Detectives have named Andrew Garza, 40, as the suspect in the deadly shooting, as announced by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police on Tuesday. He was already incarcerated at the Clark County Detention Center for an unrelated drug offense and has now been re-booked on the murder charge.
No additional information regarding the investigation has been released.
The LVMPD initially reported receiving a call about a single-vehicle accident in the 7500 block of Dean Martin Drive, close to Warm Springs Road, shortly after 5:20 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 16.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that the vehicle had collided with a street sign, and medical personnel were attending to a woman who had sustained a gunshot wound. Unfortunately, she was declared dead at the scene.
The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified her as 25-year-old Macy Stephens, confirming that her death resulted from a gunshot wound to the torso.
Jail records show that Garza is set to make his initial court appearance regarding the murder charge later on Tuesday afternoon.
