Luka Bennett-Smith Obituary, Death; – A 16-year-old male has been charged with murder following the fatal stabbing of a woman at a residential location. Avon and Somerset Police responded to an incident at a residence on Cromwell Road in the St Andrew’s district of Bristol at 18:23 BST on Sunday.
The victim, who was declared deceased at the scene, has been officially identified as 19-year-old Luka Bennett-Smith. The minor, whose identity is protected by law due to his age, appeared before magistrates in Bristol earlier today and has been remanded in custody.
A forensic post-mortem examination revealed that Ms. Bennett-Smith succumbed to “a number of stab wounds,” according to police reports.
Ch Insp Vicks Hayward-Melen expressed, “Our thoughts are primarily with Luka’s family during this extremely challenging time.
“We are offering them support through a dedicated family liaison officer and have informed them of the charging decision, which represents a significant advancement in this murder investigation. “The family has understandably requested privacy as they process the events of the past 48 hours, and we kindly ask the public to respect their wishes.
“We recognize that tragic events such as this can lead to considerable concern within the community, and we encourage anyone feeling anxious to approach officers in the area, who are conducting increased patrols. “They are available to provide assistance and reassurance to those with concerns.”
