Luis Morales Obituary, Death; – The individual who succumbed to injuries sustained in a shooting at a grocery store parking lot in Woodland Park on Black Friday has been identified, as authorities continue their investigation into the matter. Woodland Park police have confirmed that the deceased is 28-year-old Luis Morales, who was shot in the City Market parking lot on Friday evening.
Preliminary findings from the investigation indicate that the incident arose from a dispute during a child custody exchange at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Witness accounts suggest that Morales made threats towards the boyfriend of his child’s mother during this exchange. In response, the boyfriend allegedly drew a firearm and discharged a single round, which struck Morales.
Emergency responders treated Morales at the scene before he was transported to a hospital in Colorado Springs, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have stated that the 29-year-old suspect remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
