Lourdes Sulfa Sanchez Obituary, Death; – The individual who lost her life in a collision in Freeport on Wednesday evening has been identified as Lourdes Sulfa Sanchez, a 51-year-old resident of Lindenhurst, according to police reports. The Nassau County police have stated that the homicide squad is currently looking into the incident, which occurred at 6:58 p.m. on Wednesday.
As she attempted to cross Merrick Road from the north side to the south side near Henry Street, Sulfa Sanchez was struck by a 2008 Volkswagen that was traveling eastbound on Merrick Road, as reported by detectives.
She sustained significant injuries to her head and body and was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 7:33 p.m. by a physician, according to police.
The 62-year-old male driver remained at the scene of the accident, and no charges have been filed at this time, police indicated. The investigation is still ongoing, as per police statements.
